Ashburton connections

My relationship with my old home town has recently grown stronger. In addition to the activities with the Ashburton Art Gallery (over many years) the last 12 months have enabled me to contribute to the wonderful new Ashburton Civic Centre and also to reconnect with my old Primary School in Netherby.

I talked about my WIND AND WAVES Exhibition at the Art Gallery in a previous post. Now I would like to share a little of those other Ashburton connections...

I was honoured and delighted to be invited to decorate a 15 metre wall in the Children's Section of the new Ashburton Library (opened Nov 2023). The lead image on this webpage shows me with Head Librarian, Jill Watson.

Netherby Primary School - my old alma mater

I was also honoured to be asked to open the new Library at Ashburton Netherby Primary School, where I was once a pupil. I was greeted by a wonderful group of students and teachers and the kapa haka group put on a fabulous performance!

Jack (youngest student, featured above) did a great job of cutting the ribbon with massive scissors...
