Print 2 - The Whistler
Print signed by the artist, David Elliot
In the early 1980s David worked as the Gateman at Edinburgh Zoo. The zoo spreads out over the southern slopes of Corstorphine Hill, one of the seven hills of the city, crowned with an ancient woodland and scattered with Neolithic ruins.
David lived in the zoo and one of his favourite walks after work was over the hill and through the woodland to a local pub. Returning one moonlit night, he caught a glimpse of this Whistler through the trees…
Fun fact: In Scotland, Corstorphine is pronounced cor-STOR-fin. In New Zealand the emphasis has shifted and this place name is now pronounced cor-sto-FEEN.
